MAYUNDO is a name observed in incidents involving removable devices and USB/LNK shortcut-worm patterns. It is not safe to assume every USB drive showing shortcuts has the same threat; the name and infection chain require verification.
Why people encounter it
Symptoms may include missing documents, newly appearing shortcuts, unexpected scripts and problems recurring when the same device is connected to a computer. Users see the effect on their files but not always the execution mechanism.
How such a chain can work
In USB/LNK chains, a shortcut may redirect execution toward a suspicious component while legitimate content remains hidden. Some infections also establish persistence in Windows, making a USB-only inspection potentially insufficient.
What Digital Services Moz analyzed
With V1.6.3, ANTÍDOTO reproduced and validated MAYUNDO scenarios involving shortcuts, start.js, profile.js, Windows Script Host, persistence and document recovery. Remediation was complete in those validated scenarios, not a promise of universal coverage.
Your first precaution
Do not click an unexpected shortcut or format before finding out whether documents are hidden. Record the symptoms and run a controlled scan before cleanup.

A safer scan with ANTÍDOTO
If you recognize these symptoms, you can download ANTÍDOTO and run a free scan of Windows and external devices. Review the findings before deciding on remediation, which requires a license. See the licensing plans and Resource Center. Detections and outcomes depend on the individual case.
